Last month was not easy, but you've come through it, and October is looking very bright. Saturn in Virgo was to blame for many of the challenges that confronted you last month. Think back to late 2007, all of 2008, and all the months of 2009 leading to this one. This month you have reason for celebration. Saturn will finally leave Virgo on October 29, immediately creating a feeling of release and calm. Planetary storms were especially violent last month for Virgo and Pisces, for Uranus and Saturn had an angry dispute with each other and drew Mercury, the moon, and Sun into their vortex, creating a high wire act of rare proportions in September.

Think back to where you were prior to September 2007, and compare that to where you are now. Pat yourself on the back for all the growth and maturity you've gained. Your tour of duty with Saturn is nearing an end, for Saturn will leave Virgo on October 29. By next month you will feel instant relief.

It is true that Saturn will be back for a brief, 14-week stay in Virgo in the spring. (If you live "down under" that would be your fall.) Specifically, Saturn will re-visit the last three degrees of Virgo from April 7 to July 21. If you were born at the end of your sign, from September 18-21, you will notice this visit more than other Virgos born earlier in the sign.

While Saturn will usually tour a sign for two years, we only feel Saturn's direct rays when it orbits over our head, so to speak, within a tolerance of plus or minus five degrees of the degrees of our natal Sun. This means we all get about nine months of Saturn's direct attention within that two-year period and we are tested most during of that phase.

Saturn is very fair and will never waste time teaching you things you already knew or things you would never in a million years get to use. Saturn is practical - he gives you stuff you will find handy in the coming years.

If you are a late born Virgo, born from September 17-21, you have not been given the whole nine-month tutoring session that all the other Virgos had been given earlier. If you are a late born Virgo, you had a little less than six months of Saturn's undivided attention, so he's coming back to finish up your tour of duty from April to July 2010. He is very even-handed, so this way none of the other Virgos can complain that some had more lessons from him than the others. Everyone gets the same attention.

Last month all Virgos, and especially the late born Virgos, found themselves in a perfect storm of difficult aspects, the likes of which I have never seen in the heavens. It is rare to see a confluence of planetary energy like we had last month. Be of good cheer, because nothing in the future will come close to what you encountered in September. When Saturn comes back in April, you'll find those 14 weeks fairly easy to navigate.

Finances will be your main focus at the new moon October 18 and in the two weeks to follow - it is a perfect time to look for a new job or to get a raise. This new moon will appear in your second house of earned income, giving you a good chance to find new sources to make money to ease your cash flow. You may have already found one over the summer, and now will actually enjoy depositing it in your bank account this month.

It'll be important that you ask for your raise now, with no delaying (after October 18 plus two weeks), for Saturn will enter this same house on October 29 for a nearly three-year stay. This suggests that you may find it harder to get raises in the near future, so get your money now!

Be determined to get as much as you can now, just in case you should find future employers and clients to be maddeningly tightfisted. You do have a perfect window of opportunity now, and employers should be fairly generous. I can't see everything in your chart, but from where I sit, I do see a tightening of finances up ahead, but not now. You may say later that you are working harder for the money you earn. Still, the prospect of hard work never worries industrious Virgo. You always work hard for the money! Compared to the past two years, the coming influence will be easier for you, possibly even a snap. Nothing compares to what you've had!

Here is something else to consider. You have Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, in your house of work assignments. Jupiter has been retrograde since mid-June, a weak position that has proven to be less than stellar. Now, however, on October 13, Jupiter will go to strong direct speed, and you will find it MUCH easier to get work, and to be paid generously.

Jupiter will not retrograde again until July 23, so don't even THINK about that. Take one day at a time. From October 13 on, it will be easier to find work, and if self-employed, to get new clients. As you move closer to this day, you may even start to see the pace pick up, with some very encouraging signs coming up on October 9-12, for Jupiter and the Sun will work together to help you.

Actually, just as your window of opportunity is closing this month for making good money, on October 28, Venus, by month's end in your second house of earned income, will meet up with Jupiter to try to get you one more piece of very good financial news. Watch October 28!

In regard to your health, the move of Jupiter to direct speed on October 13 will also be a wonderful influence on your vitality and well-being. Jupiter is associated with healing and all sorts of preventative measures we take to stay healthy. You will feel better, and if you have been trying to get a diagnosis, your doctor will have an easier time pinpointing what has been at the root of any concern you may have had and give you a plan of action.

The eclipses of July and the ones coming on December 31 and January 15, 2010, will center on your private love life and help you rebuild your emotional life, or to draw closer to someone already in your life. You have just come though a very challenging month, and October will offer soothing relief. September's storms were very intense for some, particularly for those Pisces born late in the sign, from, say, March 12 to 20, for you felt September's stresses and strains most. No matter, the good news is that this month, on October 29, Saturn will move out of Virgo, a very difficult place for you to host this taskmaster planet. You have struggled with this aspect since September 2007. Indeed, Saturn opposition the Sun is the single hardest aspect possible, and you have coped directly with this at some point over the past two years.

We all feel Saturn most directly when Saturn aims directly at our Sun, plus or minus five degrees. For example, if you were born near February 20, you felt Saturn the most in February 2008, when not only was Saturn being his most demanding, but an angry total lunar eclipse was taunting you, too. If you were born on March 7, then October 2008 through April 2009 was the most difficult (with March perhaps the hardest).

If you were born later, near March 15-20, then last month likely turned out to be challenging. All of astrology is based on mathematics - there is no "psychic" ability involved here. Everyone has good days, and everyone has hard days. The universe is remarkably even-handed in the trials and tribulations it sets up, but also in regard to rewards and joyous moments.

Saturn in Virgo brought difficulties on several fronts. Because Saturn was based on a key, north-south-east-west point of the horoscope, you felt his influence more than if he were elsewhere in your chart. Planets on angles act almost like wild horses - they trumpet their appearances in a very powerful way. You may have felt Saturn's presence on the cusp of a key angle, the seventh house of serious committed relationships, either personal or business in nature.

You may have had to leave a marriage, break up a business partnership, or leave an agent, as a few examples. Or, if you trusted an investor, you may have been let down at the last minute when the money was not delivered. If others were not living up to their promises, it was to cause vast problems in your life, and you had to face what was happening squarely and make a plan, most likely to leave.

Part of Saturn's lesson may have been to assess realistically the promises others made for you. On the flip side, you were also learning that you, too, had to fulfill promises to others, even if you had not thought too deeply about those promises while you were making them. If coupling up has its privileges, it also had its obligations.

Saturn opposed to one's natal Sun, as you have now, could have been detrimental to your health and that would be true no matter what your age, even if you are young. If there were a condition you have ignored or cheated on, Saturn would pull you back on track. Saturn demands adherence to rules. This is considered a very draining aspect, and if any part of you had a weak link, you know about it now, for Saturn was bent on showing it to you so you can get help and feel better. When Saturn moves off this position this month, you can look forward to much better health in the future.

It is true that Saturn is due back to Virgo for a short, 14-week stint when it retrogrades backward from April 7 to July 21. Everyone gets about nine months of direct one-on-one tutoring from Saturn, but those born March 17 to 21 had only about six months of Saturn's time. He is simply coming back to finish up his lesson plan.

After that, Saturn will be gone for many decades, until October 2036. Saturn's visits get increasingly easier as we age, for presumably we have learned a great deal on the first and second visits. Saturn takes 29 years to circle the Sun, so his visits are thankfully rare. You will never have an experience like you had from September 2007 to the present because you also had Uranus in Pisces opposed to Saturn in Virgo, a combination that set up a severe set of tests for you. The future ones will be so easy you may not even notice them.

Saturn has to move into a new house of the horoscope, and in your case will go into your eighth house of other people's money. This is the area where we pay back others according to a previously made obligation, such as when we send a check to our credit card company or to pay our mortgage, or when we pay an ex-spouse for child support. This same house rules mortgages, taxes, alimony, and child support, and inheritance, too. If you were trying to divide property in a divorce, it would come under this eighth house. Soon this will be a place to watch, so be compulsive about paying bills on time and fulfilling tax obligations. Don't borrow more than you need, for it may be hard to pay back the loan. Keeping credit card balances low would be a good idea moving forward.

If anyone owes you money, you may find you have to keep calling to be sure you get paid, lest one goes bankrupt and leaves you holding the bag. I don't want to frighten you - you have some excellent aspects for earning money next year, but you will have Saturn here, and that will require a bit of vigilance. If you sign a contract, be sure you read all the fine print, for you don't want to be surprised by a legal action later that could have easily been avoided. If anyone leaves you money in an inheritance, it may take a while for the courts to sort things out. Saturn always demands patience.

This same house, your eighth house, will bring a new moon on October 18, so you may be offered a nice deal where you can make commission or a licensing fee. If you do need an investment, this new moon will be your friend, and it will occur prior to Saturn's entry into this house. Have your business plan ready to show! If you are trying to divorce, you will do best right after this new moon - if it is a simple division of property, don't let things lag. Time is of the essence, for the longer you wait to seal the deal, the lower the sum you will end up being given - or at least it looks that way from where I sit.

At the full moon, earlier in the month, plus or minus four days from October 4, you may also be thinking about money. A full moon finalizes things, so you may be sending money out, or agreeing on a final amount of salary you will accept for a new job.

Two other points in the month will help you make money. The first will be October 9 to 11, days when actions lead to hefty profits, thanks to the interplay of Jupiter and the Sun.

Once Jupiter goes direct speed on October 13, having been retrograde since June 15, you will see your career spring to life. Everything will start to go better. September brought delays due to Mercury retrograde, but now Mercury will be in fine shape, so you will be free to make all kinds of plans for the future.

The other fine financial point of the month will occur on October 20, when Mercury, by then in your financial house, will signal Jupiter.

October 28 will be very impressive for money talks and negotiations too, for Venus and Jupiter will be so very cooperative, helping you find ways to make more money.

Romantically, Mars will be in Cancer as you begin the month, a good place for you, for it engenders creativity and romance. You have had Mars in this position since the end of August, so you may notice you've had time to see friends and to enjoy someone you love. If you are single, Mars in Cancer may have already introduced you to someone special. If not, keep your eyes open - this person is on the way!

One of my favorite days for you for fun and love will be October 4, when Mars in Cancer will send a golden beam to Uranus in Pisces, making for a highly electric and unusual evening out. Whatever you expect won't happen - something better will!

Venus will be in Virgo in the first two weeks of October, filling your partnership sector, so clearly the first two weeks will be your best. I love October 13 or another reason - Venus and Mars will be so lovingly engaged with one another, allowing for a beautiful evening of candlelight, poetry, and romance.

Once Mars enters your house of daily assignments (sixth house) on October 13, you will begin to work very hard. Mars will remain in your workaday sector from October 13 to June 7, an enormously long time for Mars to be. The more typical visit of Mars is seven weeks, not the nearly eight months that Mars will do now. You will need to pace yourself, so set up little fun breaks that you can look forward to, for you will have your nose to the grindstone for a long time. Still, you love being productive, and this tour of Mars suggests you will be that, for sure!

Mars in this house also shows that you will have a growing interest in health. You may decide you want to hire a trainer or join a gym, or if finances are a concern, buy some DVDs to learn some new routines to keep in shape at home. This would be a great idea. Last month brought some very tense moments in regard to finances, but now it is October and you'll find yourself in far better territory. The reason you have had such a hard time controlling your money lately is that you had innocently flown your little airplane into the airspace of a major dispute going on between Uranus and Saturn that has been raging as far back as November 4, 2008. In your solar chart, Uranus (unexpected happenings) was found in your second house of earned income, opposed to Saturn (a constrictive influence that limits and reduces whatever it touches) in your house of credit, loans, and "other people's money." Let's not forget that Uranus is your ruling planet too, giving Uranus more weight in your chart. Having your ruler being beat over the head by Saturn is not easy.

Saturn and Uranus will oppose one another again next year on two more occasions, April 26 and July 26, but the difference is, those months won't have other planets clustered in Virgo or Pisces, which would have given added power - and difficulty - to your finances. You experienced your hardest tests last March and September 2009, for those are months when Mercury and the Sun are in those signs, and often other planets stop by, too. You will have to be conservative and careful with spending from April through July 2010, but the good news now is that you are nearing the end of this very frustrating and even frightening financial trend. Why would that be true? I will tell you.

Saturn will leave your eighth house of credit, loans, mortgage, and "other people's money" this month, on October 29. This will release you almost instantly from many of the difficulties you've faced with money. If you have suffered from having less access to financial aid for college, had problems buying or selling a house, or found it hard to pay your loans and credit card bills, you will find it easier in the months ahead. If you were in the process of getting a divorce, it may have proven very difficult to get to a settlement, but now that will be possible, too - try to get one in November through March.

Of course, Saturn hopes that you will have learned something from all you've come through and can make changes and corrections in the future. I am sure you have. Sometimes the lesson is to be less trusting, other times it is to put something aside - there are many possibilities, but at this point, you could write a book about what those might be!

As an aside, you should have a spark of good financial news over October 4 when Mars, now in your work assignment house, will beam Uranus in your house of earned income. An assignment you do over this weekend may net you a generous bundle of cash.

There is one other day I want to flag for you for possible good financial developments, and that's October 20. On that day, Mercury and Jupiter will be beautifully angled, and you may sign a very lucrative contract.

As said, Saturn will move back to Virgo, where it has been since September 2007, and into this same eighth house of other people's money for one more short visit, from April 7 to July 21, 2010, a period of 14 weeks. After that, Saturn will not be back to Virgo and your eighth house until 2036. In the future Saturn will be in Libra.

This change is truly a good one for you, for Saturn in earth sign Virgo had a smothering effect, and you are an air sign. Earth and air are not elements that blend easily or well. When Saturn goes into Libra on October 29, Saturn will be in an air sign like yours, and so you will absorb Saturn's advice much more easily. It will feel more organic and natural, not so torturous!

In coming years, until October 2012 (with the exception of the 14 weeks where Saturn will retrograde back to your house of other people's money when it tours Virgo), Saturn will fill your ninth house of information and long distance travel. This house rules the distribution of data, including publishing and broadcasting endeavors, and the taking in of information, such as is the case when you go to the university to study. The ninth house is also strongly associated with travel, international relationships, and global assignments and translations, as well as with theology and philosophy. All these areas will be possible areas of personal growth for you.

Now let's look at other things happening in your chart this month.

You seem to have been working very hard, for Mars in Cancer has been touring your workaday sector since August 25. This is a classic aspect for creating a lot of projects and deadlines, so no doubt you've not been able to come up for air. This trend will tone down on October 15, when Mars gets ready to leave.

This same position of Mars in Cancer in your sixth house may have brought you in contact with doctors, dentists, and other medical personnel. You may have felt this influence in one of two ways. The first way could have been that you went to the doctor to get your annual checkup, had your teeth cleaned and examined, eyes checked, and so forth. If your doctor found anything of importance, he may have asked you to have more tests. The other way you may have felt this influence was to become more fitness oriented and to begin working out much more often and regularly.

If your stomach has been bothering you, Mars could be the culprit. Mars has an inflammatory effect and in Cancer, the sign ruling the stomach, he may have made digestion difficult. This is a key month when so much of what you have worked toward will be rewarded. For decades, Saturn has been inching toward your mid-heaven, which is located at the very top of your chart, and will reach this pinnacle point on October 29.

So that you can visualize where Saturn will be, if your horoscope were the face of a clock, your mid-heaven would be found where the 12 is placed at the top of the clock's face. The mid-heaven forms the cusp between your ninth house of international relationships and endeavors, travel, and higher education, and your tenth house of career honors and achievement. The ancient astrologers called the tenth house "the house of dignity," for it has always been held in high esteem. It is the place where your reputation is centered, whether in your community, your nation, or the world. This is the place in the chart where you can demonstrate your leadership abilities and assume a position of great power in service to others. When there is activity in the tenth house, you usually have a chance to step up to a high level in your career.

The fact that this part of your chart is lighting up brilliantly is attractive to you, for the tenth house is naturally associated with Capricorn. You are an ambitious soul, and you are wise in knowing that your reputation is the one part of you that is most precious. Usually when Saturn crosses the mid-heaven, one's career changes dramatically. Let me give you an example. In the 1990's, I was in the hospital with a severely broken femur bone, and because of a problem I have with internal bleeding in that leg, I can never be operated on. If I do get an operation in the left leg, I risk bleeding to death. This was not my first long hospital stay, so I was dealing with it as best I could. Thankfully my mother was taking care of my two daughters while I recovered. I was to be in the hospital in traction for eight months.

At that time, I remember my mother, Little Mom, coming in to see me one day (as she often did) and looking at my chart said, "You have Saturn going over your mid-heaven, Susie, and it looks like you will have a complete change in career soon." Now of course that was the last thing I wanted to hear. I was in a crisis with my health, I had two little children to care for, I was divorced and not getting child support, and hearing I would soon give up my present job and find a new way of making a living was the last thing I wanted to hear. I liked my job.

At that point I was trying hard to deal with being tied to a hospital bed for 8 months and still keep my business going! If you don't want to hear your career is changing, I understand - that can sound scary. As you will see, things worked out for me, and they can for you. Stay with me.

At the time I was an agent for commercial photographers in advertising. Everyone in the industry knew I was interested in astrology and I gave charts to art directors freely as thanks for the kindness they showed my photographers and me.

Soon after Saturn crossed my mid-heaven, the editors at Time, Inc. asked me to create a website on astrology for their new website, Pathfinder. Those were pre-AOL days and they agreed to license the site I created - a site I named Astrology Zone. It would be fully owned by me at all times (and still is 100 percent owned by me). I have my natal Sun and Mercury in the tenth house of my natal chart, and when Astrology Zone debuted on December 14, 1995, Saturn was one-and-a-half degrees past my natal Sun and conjunct my natal to Mercury, next to the Sun. Astrology Zone is now nearly 14 years on the Internet.

Did I have a huge career switch thanks to Saturn? I sure did, but I did so gradually and I think this is how things may work out for you. Nothing Saturn does is quick. I did not close the door on my commercial agent work until 2001, when Astrology Zone got so big that I couldn't handle both careers at once. My mother's words had troubled me, but I should not have been frightened - she forgot to tell me Saturn works so slowly. By 2001, it was time to choose which to do, and I chose to let go of my agent work and embrace my website full time forever.

I tell you this story because you may face a similar decision. Some people do make a radical switch, but Saturn tends to favor a slow and gradual approach. Uranus is more given to lightning bolt change, not Saturn. Jupiter comes bearing gifts immediately, but Saturn will always test your mettle first, so this tough love planet gives no rewards until you complete his tutoring phase.

Saturn will makes you work very, very hard and commit fully to your quest, but whatever you build during his visit will be something you will be very proud and happy to have done. Your new job will add to your long-term security.

Said another way, in the coming years, you will have a chance to find your true calling. It is also important to note that Saturn does not come by this part of your chart very often, only once every 29 years. The last time you hosted this planet in your tenth house of career achievement was 1980 to mid-1983.

It might be interesting and enlightening to find out what happened when your grandmother and grandfather hosted Saturn in their tenth house (as you have now), and what happened for your parents, aunts and uncles, and older close friends, too.

Also, if you are old enough to have been in the work force during the early 1980s, you may recall a career theme that emerged back then that may come up again now. You have time to think - this trend will begin a long process. Once you take on your new post, it will take until October 2012 to fully master your skill in the new position and that is when your rewards will begin to flow.

During the coming three-year period, Saturn will briefly move back into Virgo from March 10 to July 21, 2010. As you see, you will experience a preview of what is to come from October 29 until April 7. After April 7, you will get a breather of 14 weeks.

From early April through July you may go back to school for extra training. If so, it is likely to be a difficult course, but you will learn the material in a way you would never forget, and you will find practical application to what you learn. If you have to take a very hard qualifying exam, like the Bar, then do so any time outside of this period. In other words, avoid March 10 to July 21 if you can, as the test will be very challenging if taken during that phase.

On top of all this - and it is hard to imagine any MORE news involving your career - you will have a bright, friendly new moon in this same area of the chart, your lofty tenth house of fame and honors on October 18. This will be the only new moon in this area of your chart in 2009, and will bring you a sterling opportunity to get ahead immediately - no waiting.

Saturn won't yet be in this area - that will come later, on October 29 - but you can be sure that as you talk about the job, you will impress the powers at the top and you will be identified as the one to handle a very responsible job. Now let's see what else is going on in your chart.

Your home situation will also be a focus at the full moon, October 4. Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, will be in the vicinity of that full moon and beam a lovely, shimmering vibration to it, helping and possibly even enlarging your opportunities. This suggests you may be buying or selling a house, leasing an apartment, or buying or selling items for the home. You will either get a good bargain, or, you will net a nice profit. A full moon finishes things, so you will see a final resolve within four days of this date.

At this time, Mars will be in a cheery mood and signal Uranus, so you may need to travel suddenly, but if so, you would cover only a very short distance, say, under 200 miles. I am not sure if your trip will be related to the property situation going on, or in addition to it. You may also be on the phone with your sibling or a cousin quite a bit at this full moon.

Most people don't work over the weekend, but if you do, this weekend will be four-star for elevating your earned income! Speaking of money, your financial outlook will become outstanding after Jupiter goes direct on October 13. Jupiter has been retrograde since mid-June. If monetary talks have stalled, or if you have delayed changing jobs because you've not been able to find a job that offers you the right compensation, then this is fabulous news. From October 13 to January 17, 2010, you will have your best chance ever of finding the kind of job that pays well and is right for you.

Actually, one of the best days of the month to have an interview will be October 28, when Venus, by then in your house of career success, will send the best possible golden beam to Jupiter. It's a four-star day for advancing professional interests!

While your outlook for generating income will be very strong, you seem to be getting ready to spend a great deal of money, too. Your spending seems to be home or family-related. Mars naturally rules your fourth house of home, and will move into your eighth house of other people's money and will remain there quite a long time, until June 7, 2010.

This suggests that you will be buying or selling property, moving cross-country, or doing a major renovation, or, you may be updating and refreshing your space, such as by painting and buying new furniture.
